Round 4 report 5th November 2011
At last, the beautiful tennis weather we had all been waiting for finally arrived last Saturday morning! The courts were a picture and the players all keen for competition as they arrived at the clubhouse. President Rob reminded everyone of the club's important sunsmart message which means that hats and drinkers are compulsory every week for junior tennis.
Kit Kat and Picnic had a great tousle last Saturday and there were several marathon length matches. Meg Cashin and Jacob Bath beat Aiden Goode and Zac Cumming in a hard fought match 6-5. After many other close matches and some great tennis in general, Picnic finally emerged the victors by 7 games.
Mars had the two birthday girls, Celeste O'Shannessy and Sophie Hogan, in their team and tried hard all morning to give them another reason to celebrate but Crunchie were just too strong on the day. Highlights were Jack Wingfield dancing around the net to reach those elusive volleys and Rory O'Shannessy trying hard not to smile too much after beating his sister Celeste 6–1 in the singles! Crunchie played well to win by 14 games. Three set winners for the day were Rory O'Shannessy, Isabella Griffiths and Kailey Hose.
Everyone is reminded to return their registration forms and that subs are now due and payable to Carolyn Potter. Don't forget the kettle is always on in the club kitchen every Saturday morning for any parents wanting a cuppa while they watch some great tennis!

Team Supervisors – O'Shannessy, Cumming
Court Duty – Barber, Sellick

Round 3 report 29th October 2011
Well, the 15mm of rain on Friday night made a few of us a bit anxious again but fortunately the morning brought cool, breezy but dry conditions. There was even the odd break of sunshine and hopefully we can have a run of this good weather for the next few weeks!
Last Saturday saw the Beginners and Intermediates take to the courts and there were plenty of excited and keen players amongst them. Our accredited coaches, Anne Campbell, Brad Bath and Derek Hollis, do a great job teaching skills to these players and their sessions are 9.00am – 10.30am.
Last Saturday Picnic defeated Mars by 18 games. In the other match Snickers had a closer encounter but eventually won by a narrow 6 games. There were lots of very even sets in both matches and it was great to see all players enjoying their tennis. Three set winners for the day were Danielle Campbell, Josh Potter, Hayley Sellick and Brent Hogan.
Players are asked to be at the tennis courts by 8.45 a.m., ready for a prompt 9 a.m. start and please remember to come into the clubhouse and register before heading out for a hit. It's important that the supervisors know which players are available on each day so they can fill any vacancies in the teams. Everyone is also reminded to return their registration forms and that subs are now due and payable to Carolyn Potter. Don't forget the kettle is always on in the club kitchen for any parents wanting a cuppa while they watch!
Team Supervisors – Stuchberry, Sands
Court Duty – M&D Hollis, Hose
Draw – KitKat vs Picnic
Crunchie vs Mars
Snickers– Bye ( Please attend to fill in and play where needed or for coaching)

Round 2 report - 22nd October 2011
Unfortunately Junior Tennis had to be cancelled last week due to the rain and I'm sure there were many disappointed players who were keen for a game. If there are any doubts as to whether tennis may be cancelled on other occassions, the contact numbers are Tony Goode ph 54971668 and Cathryn Cumming ph 54971508. We all hope that this will not be a regular occurrence this season and that the sun will once again shine down on us for this weeks matches!

Team Supervisors – Gillahan, Russell

Round 1 report - 15th October 2011
Donald Junior Tennis commenced their season of competition last Saturday in cool but dry conditions. It was great to see several new faces this year and all players were keen to be back out on the courts. The gusty wind made conditions challenging but good tennis was enjoyed by all. Crunchie and Snickers had several close sets but Snickers were the eventual winners by 12 games. In the second match, Mars were convincing winners over Kit Kat by 39 games. Three set winners for the day were Brent Hogan, Tom Gillahan, Sarah Stuchbery, Nick Sands, Zac Cumming and Celeste O'Shannessy. Players are reminded that adjustments may be made to team lists over the next few weeks to ensure they are as even as possible.
